Photographer catches B-2 stealth bomber over stadium
Here's something you don't see everyday.
During the 2018 Rose Bowl game between Georgia and Oklahoma photographer Mark Holtzman was in a plane at 3500 feet covering the game. He managed to capture a B-2 stealth bomber from above passing over the stadium at 1000 feet with the US flag unfurled on the field below. Wow! More...

I don't recall the Cessna windows opening more than a few inches when I took flying lessons. Being above a stadium and having a B-2 bomber under you within 1500ft is also a bit far fetched but I guess anything is possible. Lucky shot indeed if it is real.

Photographer catches B-2 stealth bomber over stadium
Wow, thanks! What a cool shot. Initially, I too mistakenly thought it was taken by a drone. Amazing! Like Dan said, a once in a lifetime shot.
My once in a lifetime shot was catching the moment a pilot cut a ribbon, placed about 20 feet above a runway, with the wheels of his plane. Last edited by Cohibaman; 01-07-2018 at 01:36 PM. |

This story doesn't add up in my mind.
First, the straight down perspective which is perfect and the sharpness of the picture, even at 1/1000 exposure does not equate to a guy half hanging out of a Cessna airplane window flying at 100mph with the prop wash and air turbulence shaking the camera. Try taking a hand held camera picture half way out of the car at 100 mph. I would love to see someone half hanging out of the airplane and still reach the rudder pedals as he claims to roll the plane and keep the rudder under control not to mention it would be done by hands on the yoke with ailerons to initiate the roll. Once you roll a high wing plane, it starts to pitch and dive and the rudder must be operated to keep the plane in a more or less straight line. The 70mm setting on the lens as he claims, does not seem to coincide with the stated altitude in my mind. A more likely story is that he mentions his son and drones. This picture looks exactly like a drone picture with the altitude, perspective and perfect vertical shot, another words exactly what a drone would see with the camera gimbal pointed straight down. Flying drones over populated areas and especially in the flight path of a B-2 Bomber illegaly, would result in at least a $35k fine from the FAA and a whole heap of trouble for the drone operator. It wouldn't be the first time... This story is very fishy and I think the dad is covering up his son and his drone picture. Last edited by PHC1; 01-07-2018 at 02:10 PM. |

Well I guess this one is a fake also? He shot this one during the parade earlier in the day. He fly's out of Van Nuys airport and has a business.
