Just bought the ZeroDust stylus cleaner.
I watched a few you tube videos but have a question. When you raise the tone arm back up...is there anything to wipe out? Or is just ready to use right away? |

Anything removed from the stylus by the ZD is supposed to remain in the material as the stylus is lifted. So you should not need to otherwise clean the stylus after treatment.

The Onzow will not remove gunk that bonds to the stylus during play. Sometimes that displays as a faint yellowish film. At four tons per square inch of stylus pressure on vinyl, this build-up over time is inevitable. The Mr. Clean eraser (above) will remove it. 20X loupe on adjustable stand The most important thing you can do to keep your stylus clean is to look at it. It never hurts to inspect the stylus with a magnifier or loupe before and after cleaning it, however that is done. It's a pita, but it pays to check the stylus after each side. |

Totally agree Ivan, a colleague damaged his Lyra cartridge that way. Unfortunately his eyesight wasn't good so he over-applied the liquid stylus cleaner which in turn soaked the cantilever. He soon noticed that his cartridge was closer to the record as the suspension softened. Warranty was refused. I lent him an OC9 to keep him listening to records.

I use the Zerodust, and stopped using Magic Eraser. I never let the cantilever enter the Zerodust, just immersing the stylus to the cantilever which works flawlessly.
Regards, Jim

I do two stages, once with a very soft backwards brush to remove dust from the exposed cantilever followed by a brief Zerodust stylus dip. Certainly preventing vinyl from attracting dust due to static helps.
