I really had a good time hanging out with you guys KingRT, Mack, Bob, Salmtpa, and Vintage Pete, the FL AA contingent. Man, there was a lot of ball busting going on at the party some pretty funny stuff was being said. Even mild manner Shanna stopped by and started launching some zingers.

One thing I did learn is you guys really need to change your screen names to better reflect who you are. . .

KingRT - Pete Rose of Forums
Bob - Bandit
Salmtpa - Bachelor
Mack - Fat Money Roll
Vintage Pete - Audio Time Traveler

Guess you had to be there. . . .
Bob is Bandit and Smokey all rolled into one!

I'm a repeat offender, I mean visitor, to "the room". As most of you know I am also a die hard 2-channel fan so my comments focus on that material and demos. The thing that struck me the most during this visit was unobtrusive the Gothams were for the most part, but then really added deep, deep bottom when called upon. I had even asked Ivan at one point after a demo if the Gothams were active! But on subsequent demos it was pretty obvious that they were plumbing the depths. There seems to have been some additional treatments installed too. I certainly noticed the ASC Cinemapanels since I have them in my own room. And those gorgeous big blue eyes of the MC 1.2kWs really got my imagination racing and set me into a mental exerciise trying to figure out how to get two of those babies into my system some day. I guess "some day" is the operative phrase!

I'm really looking forward to visiting the Cape at some point in the not too distant future. I was last there right before construction started, in fact the walls were just chalk line snaps on the floor.

REPEAT AUDIO OFFENDER. . .

So since the last extravaganza back in 08’ there have been some significant upgrades to “The Room”, the major one being the dual Gothams. The bass was definitely tighter and heart pounding then what I remember back in 08’. The cleaver scene in “Mr and Mrs. Smith” was great when I first saw and herd it back in 08’, now I felt it 2010’. The Super Speedway demo was a nice touch as I am more of a HT fan than 2 channel. The quality of the video reproduction on screen was so superb; if you looked closely you could read the speedometer in the car, 167Mph in the corners. The db this year was definitely higher then in the past, 115db vs. around 105db that I remember. What was most telling is when we watched the DVD Eagles “Hotel California”. The audio quality was great, but after watching Blu-ray demos for most of the day, this DVD video production was extremely poor and it really stood out illustrating to me how well the G90 can reproduce what’s on the disk with zero artifacts. That Eagles DVD would probably be ok if viewed on other HT systems, but when you have pure digital from “Lens-to-Lens” the level of imaging is unreal. If it’s a bad production you can clearly see it, same for the really great productions such as “Take 5” that we watched. So when it comes to the G90 there is hiding nothing, it is what it is. The Cape has a lot to prove when it comes to the level optimization and tweaking “The Room” has had over the years, but I would be glad to be the judge of that.

I remember this event like it was yesterday. One of the best party and people I've met in my life. Thank you again Ivan for being such a wonderful host.
