As I understand it they will have three rooms set up with Fine Sounds gear. The XLF with AR REF 250. THe Futura with Ref 110 and the Elipsa SE with ???. I will try a snap a few phone pics.

Since it is the Aida and Fine Sounds the attendees will not get to hear how good they sound with the Momentum's

Ivan
I only had my phone and was enjoying my listening so much I forgot to take any photos.

The Aida's were powered by the Momentum's after all and as usual sounded very good. Alan Haggar's really understands music and his selections tested the speakers and showed the capability of the speakers. Some incredible violin, pop vocals, organ music, Duke Ellington and Louis Armstrong, and a bit of choral.

In the Futura room I was able to listen to the just released Digital Media Center. The unit has the guts of a REF 5 and a DAC more advanced than the DAC 8. It accepts multiple digital inputs including those for USB sticks and iPods. It has the ability to up-sample, display album art, connect to SonoS, internet radio and more. A very interesting piece. Oh, the unit directly driving the REF 150 and REL G1 sounded very good.

A great evening, all in all.

Jim

Jim,

Thanks for the update. What was the front end used with the Aida's and the Momentums?

Mike

Mike

Alan played a couple of vinyl tracks on a SME 20-3 into a Ref 5 SE, but most of the music was from his laptop thru I believe a AR DAC 8 into that same REF 5 SE.

So, with all the attendees, how do they sound?

I think Frank and Doug have similar feelings as I, they are very good speakers that should be considered by anyone who is willing and able to spend six figures on speakers. Everyone will have their preferences in the über priced category (Wilson, MBL, Magico, etc). That is just not a place where the three of us play.

As I have said before, what makes these special for me are the rear firing drivers that add the ambiance I seek (ala MBL).

Thanks for the impressions folks. Sounds like a great event.
Would love to hear the Aida with Momentums.
I understand that the Canadian dealer "American Sound" (I know, I know) just north of Toronto, has, or soon will have Aida in their new shop. Not sure if they are having an official debut or not but I hope to get to hear them at the end of Sept when the Toronto Audio show is on.
