Jim.... Is that Rob aka "Merrylander" you're talking about? Over on ak he is the "Master Yamaha" tech.

I emailed him about buying one of his restore/rebuilts but no luck I guess I'm gonna have to find a CR2040 or CA1010/2010 myself.

That is Merrylander. He is backed up pretty deep right now, but he is one of the best Yamaha techs out there, and a top shelf guy.

Jim

My CR-1020 still provides some wonderful tunes. I have a few pieces of vintage Yamaha I still use:

1. CA-600 amp/CT-410 tuner as an alarm clock

2. CA-2010 amp/CT-810 tuner in the garage shop area

3. CR-620 receiver in the wife's glass studio

4. CR-1020 receiver in the two channel room

This is the stack I had when I learned how to diagnose, repair and refurbish this silver faced gear

My first receiver was a Yamaha CR640. I loved that receiver.. Unfortunately, I sent it to a repair shop and the guy told me it could not be fixed. He asked me if he should dispose of it. Foolishly i told him yes.

I really wish I could have the receiver back... I would have figured a way to fix it and then it give it to one of my sons.

1985 or 1995? The looks and nomenclature of that receiver makes me think of the 90's...

Nice Yamaha! I have a Yamaha CR-1000 and I love it. It's from 1975 era. I'm looking to get it restored. Can you point me in the direction of the guy who did yours?

Unfortunately Merrylander no longer works on gear, as his eyesight and faculties are fading. There is an alternative which I will PM to you.
Regards,
Jim
