Default New Harbeth Reference speaker !

Harbeth presents its new reference monitor at the Munich show. The M40.2.
The drivers look identical to the ones of the 40.1.
Upgrades must be mostly on the filter. Just a guess.

Jerome.......The new Harbeth M40.2 looks very nice. It is one brand I have never auditioned.

Dan...they look good but they won't get any design prize !
Just got the information from Harbeth that "in theory, 40.1 owners will be able to upgrade their version to 40.2 ".
Very curious about the improvements made on the filter.

Dan....if you can audition Harbeth one day, I am sure that you will love them a lot. The mids are to die for. I like the Monitor series ( P3ESR= M20.1, M30.1 and M40.1) better than the SHL5.
The bass on the 40.1 is tremendously good.
The sound of the 40.1 is in the same family as the PMC EB1i, but the bass goes even deeper with better slam and authority and the mids are more natural and transparent. The highs of the 40.1 may seem rolled off a bit to many listeners. I personally love them. My guess is that the 40.2 will be brighter and more extended in the treble.

Michael...I had the chance of comparing the XR100s to the SHL5+ in home. They do two very different things. The XR100s would probably be the pick for most people and I am torn on the two. I would not listen to the SHL5+ without a subwoofer but I would and do listen to the XR100s with and without the sub on. Honestly one is not better than the other IMO, it's just about what you want from your system.
