Default My first Ayre

Hello folks,

I bought a used AX7e integrated to use in my bedroom with my Rega RS10 speakers.
Fully balanced amp connected with the fully balanced Meridian 566 dac.
The sound reminds me a lot of the Nagra MSA. Maybe a bit less refined, but with better dynamics and presence. It is musical, clean, neutral but not boring at all. Above all, I do not get the feeling to listen to an SS amp. It sounds very sweet and natural.
If you can deal with only two unbalanced and two balanced inputs, no balance L/R adjustment, no tone controls, on the used market, this is clearly a bargain amp.
A truly high end amp at a very affordable price.

Congrats Jérôme!
All Ayre products I've heard so far were very convincing.
This replaces your old McIntosh amp?

I had an Ayre AX7e for years. I miss it. It's a great amp. The hi fi industry tells you you need more/better. I would say no you don't.

Enjoy the amp. Best balanced. I ran a headphone amp connected to the tape out put. I also made needle drops from vinyl using the tape output as well.

Enjoy your AX7e Jerome. I've always thought the Ayre products offer great bang for the buck and their upper end stuff is downright impressive! I still remember the time I spent with the KX-R preamp in my system, that was truly magnificent piece of audio gear.

Hi Bart.
No. I had the CJ Premier 17LS and the 225 in my bedroom. Sold the Halgo amp in the living room because it did not get enough use. So the CJ / 225 went in the living. My old Mac1500 is unused by now.
