Humidity question

Our weather here in MN has been extremely humid recently and I just wondered if that can/does effect speaker drivers.
My sound has been a little off and I am thinking the paper based Sonus Faber drivers may be slightly effected by this change.
For lack of a better word, it may be a slight bit sluggish sounding. Am I way off base with this line of thinking? Anybody else experienced this?

Maybe if they are paper cones not fully impregnated with some resin ? ? ?

Yes, extreme humidity will have an adverse effect on speakers and eventually even electronics.

I control the humidity, and monitor it in my homes.

Have you found a maximum humidity level that is best?
We constantly have the A/C on of course, but my listening room is in our walk out basement and the humidity level is always a bit higher.
Thinking a dehumidifier or two would be a good idea during these warmer damper months.

High humidity will even affect the rooms acoustics; try maintaining 50% or less relative humidity.

USE AN AIR CONDITIONER, not a dehumidifier. A dehumidifier contains all the components of an air conditioner and works the same way except the heated exhaust simply goes back into the room and the condensate falls into a collection tank. They both use the same amount of electricity for the given size and the air conditioner will keep you cool in addition to drying out the air. A dehumidifier may actually HEAT up the room in the process of drying the air.

For what is worth, the sound in my room has been "off" as well, but this always tends to happen during the summer months. I live in a condo, in South FL, so CRAZY high humidity is the norm, and AC's running 24/7 do not help when it comes to the quality of the electricity feeding our systems...

(I hate summer with a passion! )

We are polar opposites - though I live on another planet here in the God forsaken frozen tundra of MN! :-) I would much rather sweat than shiver. I always run our A/C down to 68 degrees and then turn it off for my late night listening. The fan noise and the power draw otherwise negatively effects the sound of the system without a doubt.

If you're running your A/C down to 68 degrees, I can't imagine how you could have a humidity problem. We keep our temp at 74 during the summer and we've never had any humidity issues, and this coming from one of the humidity capitals of the U.S. here in Atlanta from April through the end of September. I always have to use my Zerostat on vinyl, even in the summer. 68 is pretty darn chilly, even in July.
