Unlike many OEMs that use off the shelf drivers, Wilson often uses proprietary Focal, ScanSpeak, and SB Acoustic drivers, which adds additional costs.

The cost of running a factory in the USA and employing top flight engineers and machinist is massive. The CNCs machines used to cut cabinet material would run over $500,000 each. I believe much of the metal CNCing is out sourced to another facility in Utah. The BOM (bill of materials) cost has little to do with final price. One thing I do know about Wilson is they do not look for ways to cut cost by using cheaper materials or cutting any corners. This is evident from the fact they use machined metal ports in the cabinets. Virtually everyone else uses plastic. Apparently this does make a difference, a small difference, but a difference. A piece of equipment like a Wilson speaker is a sum of its parts. All of those little things that are done to make a small differences add up at the end to make a big difference in the sound a quality of the speaker. Even all the tools in the tool kit you receive with you speaks are made ion the USA and are top quality, as is the manual and creates. The entire package is top quality. Too me that is refreshing in an age when it seems to be a race to the bottom of who can produce and sell the cheapest of a certain product.

Im sure that a top model xlf would average out to 75k after all factors were taken into account. Certainly enough wiggle room of profit to afford a 1st class living for the wilson family which of course includes ferarries and a pair of XLFs.

We have a duel table CNC machine in house, employ around 50 People (who enjoy very good benefits), use the top of the line materials (X-material cost many, many times more than MDF), overhead of a 50,000 sq ft building, 3 down draft paint booths, expert R&D, etc. Don't forget the dealer margin.

Do you know how much it 'costs' to make a 2L bottle of Coke ?

In Poland, it sells for ~$2 or thereabouts. I bet it doesn't cost Coca Cola more than $.10 to make.
