I was considering the XA100.5 - however I live in South Florida and heat is a huge issue.....a/c all the time, even in winter months more than occasionally. Given that, how much "suffering" from the heat of the XA100.5 would it be worth over the 350.5 (lnowing that piece is still hot anyway) in Sound quality. Using Ariel Acoustic 7Ts

Hi Flyingyeff,
the X350.5 is the same as the XA100.5. same heat-> ok, XA are monos = 2pieces vs. 1 "single stereo". Sound quality? the Xa250.5 is (for me) better from the 350.5. |

Too hot to be touched? How come? Must be faulty (or faulty design) from engineering point of view. It is not for boiling water anyway!

Not like that. The XA100.5s are Class-A amplifiers, so by definition they run hot. When you touch the fins, they feel very warm but you can leave your fingers on them for several seconds before it feels uncomfortable. The fin surface temperature is about 55 degrees Celsius.

Well, I pulled the trigger yesterday on a New Pass Labs X350.8 !! Cant wait - Mark at Reno HF is awesome as everyone has commented before. I do see the Monos in my future at some point (160.8) - but I need something to look forward to ....in the meant time I think the new X350.8 will kill it in my system.
Need a bit of advice....going to run Balanced between the Pass into my Classe SSP-800....do I go Silver or Cooper........???? Thanks |
