I've been reading the latest issue of Stereophile this week (particularly compelling issue BTW). In it as many of us know is Kal Rubinson's review of the B&W 802D3. I find the use of laminated wood for the internal bracing and aluminum for the front part of the cabinet interesting. To me it seems Magico has influenced B&W, or at least set the pace of new materials application. One can of course argue that B&W influenced Magico in particular with matrix construction in that all Magico models have used internal bracing from its beginning a decade ago. Anyway competition improves the breed. B&W I feel stagnated a little and I think Magico in particular has set an example for B&W to follow, and they did.

I'm pretty sure B&W design was almost finalised at the time Cygnus was released. No to mention the brand reach (and awareness) is much lower than Magico.
Just saying. They might have sourced the idea from Krell or Goldmund. |

Nice write up on the M3 in HiFi+ magazine. I really want to see and hear this speaker!

Oh really?
Jim, what gear did they have paired with the M3's?

That's what I was going to guess. Can't help but wonder how Ayre would sound paired with the M3's. I don't ever see Ayre paired with Magico.
