Default Miles Davis, Kind of Blue - MOFI artifact?

So I’m sitting here listening to this lovely album for the first time, really enjoying it. On the second side of the 1st album the song “Blue in Green” has a strange sound coming from the right channel. It’s not an instrument imo and it is very noticeable. Seems to keep to the timing though.

Anyone know what I’m talking about?
Maybe it could be like a dragging snare drum?

I'm sure what you're hearing is the very fine brush work by James Cobb.

Ha, this is hilarious!
I think you're absolutely right.
I feel the the channels were so panned left and right
it sounded off to me.
