I have the special audio paste that when applied to the dental floss increases the dampening factor by 10x

By the way, the Cardas maggie jumper cables made for attenuators sound awesome. Golden Reference 15awg. Compared to Mapleshaded Maggie jumpers and to stock 3.7 u bars, the Cardas make less of a need for a tweeter attenuator, and provide more depth and width to sound stage. I did an a/b comparison, and my ears like the Cardas attenuator jumpers. Next I will compare the ones from Empirical Design, and will be getting a Duelund Cast R6 10watt resistor for tweeter attenuator. All cheap tweaks that make a marked difference. Then on to Mye stands. Listening to Maggies all day yesterday through VAC amp was pure joy.

One of my local dealers, Stereo Unlimited in Walnut Creek, CA, is one of the largest Maggie dealers in the U.S. One principals there, Liz, listens to Maggies "edge on", that is, with them turned 90 degrees so their edges are facing the listener. She says they sound batter that way, and I agree.

They mod almost all the Maggie systems they sell with the addition of a Linaeum ET-6 Tweeter functioning as a supertweeter, which they fasten to the top of the frame, and their proprietary wire. They also almost always use them with a sub as well.

That said, I like the way the anchors look as well, they don't look anywhere near as industrial without the angled upright on the back...

Current pre/power - Shindo Auriges L/Sanders Magtech

The Magtech is in some ways kind of tube-like for a SS amp - my first non-valve amp in 20 years... it is grainless and has seemingly endless reserves... never even a hint of compression even when the music suddenly swells like a tsunami... The Shindo sets up the tone, timbre and soundstage for the Sanders and fair makes it sing.

Dream pre - Will be a shootout between Shindo Vosne-Romanee and ARC Ref6 (just kiddin)... so most likely upgrade to Shindo VR by early in the New Year.

Dream power... that's easy - ARC Ref250... if it's better than the 610T it must be something... I've been thinking that all things going well I'll maybe look at doing that within the year.

Graham
I really like the ARC pre's and have been really impressed by the Ref5. Have had a few chances to listen to the Ref amps, but can't remember the exact model number. Unfortunately most of the time the dealer has had them set up with Wilson speakers, not Maggies. What i think would be interesting is to hear the 3.7 with a monstrous Krell amp just to hear how much slammage the 3.7 actually has.

I bought these 3.7's several months ago, and love em more every day....they need a healthy power amp, at least at the levels I like, but just seem to be improving day by day...
I owned Tympani 1-D's back in the 70's, purchased with a small inheritance from a great aunt, who would have risen from the grave had she known what I spent the money on!!
After Thiels, Von Schweikerts, and a couple of others, I had to try the Maggie sound again...
What started out as a small revamp of the system had led to a new amp, a Magtech, to replace my Gamut Mk2, a great amp but just not strong enough for these to be driven hard, and a Modwright Oppo 105, replacing a GNS Resolution Audio CD player....Now I need to get a better preamp...
These speakers are just so effortless and relaxing to listen to...money well spent!!
Listening to Mr.s Atkins and Knofler at the moment....pure bliss...))..Of course the red wine helps!!

Hey maxdog, great to hear you are really liking your Maggie 3.7’s. I sure like mine. Others have said that the Magtech amps work really well with the Maggie’s. What finish did you get with your 3.7’s? Mine are dark cherry.

I got the dark cherry too, with the off-white cloth....They are gorgeous, if I do say so. The Magtechs work very well...they have a ton of power, and that's a necessity at higher volumes with these, as I'm sure you know. Mr Sanders even has said should I want to get the mono-blocks, he would just take my amp back and send me the monos , and just charge for a single amp. I'm tempted!!..1800 watts per channel should be sufficient!!..))

I previously had VR4jr's, and I hooked up the Magtechs to them while waiting for the Maggies....I never new the low end theses speakers could produce up until then.. Had a Gamut D200 driving them, and there was no comparison in the low end....A great amp, just not enough power for these speakers to really sing.
Just now enjoying my Modwright Oppo 105 in the system....a new preamp and I think I'm done....Yeah, right!!..))
