I think the final product may look a little different.

Interesting that this new pre departs from the 3 box configuration of the XP-30.

I commented on this in another thread. There is a picture somewhere which shows both the XS Pre and what looks like an XP-20 - the XS pre is *much* bigger. My guess is that while a 3 chassis design is better in a theoretical (and probably measureable) sense, Nelson opted for visual symmetry with the 2 chassis XS amps while fitting all of the necessary goodness (apparantly significantly better than the XP-30) into 2 boxes. Or perhaps there were indications that potential Pass Labs customers found the 3 chassis design a bit cumbersome. Just speculatin'.

Great sounding preamp, just a bit unwieldy. |

The Back.Price is said to be 32k.

I love the simple design layout! Not crazy about the volume knob/dial. Maybe it's better in person.

My understanding is that the metal showed up on Wednesday, it all went together Thursday and into the truck and into the van for the ride to CES Friday. I have it from good sources that the cosmetic details of the Xs preamps are not final.
