Default Cleaning Solution Usage

Hi Guys,

Just got myself a ClearAudio RCM. Just wondering how many records a 250ml bottle can normally clean?

Asking cos my 250ml bottle seems to finish quite fast after not more than 20 washes I reckon..

Have never paid any attention. Will get started on cleaning again next month (cold weather work) and let you know the results.

I found that the bottle of cleaning fluid goes quickly. I started making my own cleaning fluid a gallon at a time. It works well and is a lot less expensive.
Happy cleaning

would anyone know if there are any other more easily available / cheaper solutions that are compatible with the new clearaudio double matrix sonic cleaner? I'm also almost out of juice!

The folks at Acoustic Sounds recommend the Disc Doctor cleaning products in lieu of the Clearaudio fluid. Have used the Disc Doctor fluids for many years with no complaints.

Nice RCM. I thought sonics just used distilled water.

Clearaudio cleaning solution is very expensive and is not readily available in North America as it cannot be shipped "legally" due to its "dangerous" isopropyl alcohol content. I'm currently using my own homemade solution with great success. 800ml distilled water + 200ml isopropyl alcohol 99% USP, 5ml ilford ilfotol (whetting agent with surfactant activity, necessary for the solution to get into the grooves) and 8ml of a neutral pH, non residue, enzymatic cleaner (if it's good enough to clean very delicate technical/medical scopes with similar rubber tubing, it's gonna be safe on this machine). Total cost is a small fraction of what clearaudio and other companies sell, IMO they're essentially all the same and overpriced.
