Where Worlds Collide
Gentlemen,
I've started a new job and the learning curve is nearly vertical. It's not much of an excuse, but my membership is only one of many things I've let slide in the interim. If you'll indulge me for just a short while longer, I assure you the paypal issues will eventually be remedied. The new house has a good sized media room with a bar. The bar has a space for a fridge. I came home from work yesterday to find that my lovely bride filled that space with a fridge and filled the fridge with beer. It was a good day. Here's the colliding part; This room is strictly 2 channel and I don't have to explain to this crowd the impact of a noisy fridge in a listening room. Options; 1) Get a better fridge. It's an obvious one, but laying out that kind of green to chill beer when it could be spent on copper is not an easy decision for a guy who works for a living. 2) Insulation and muffling. Not a bad choice, but this has the potential to introduce trapped heat and air circulation issues. 3) Remote the compressor/ fan assembly thru the wall into the garage. Ths is the secondary impact of the collision. My realm of experience does not include re routing compressed freon. Ive done cursory research, but I've only found complaints. No solutions. Does the extral footage on the line introduce an undersized compressor issue? Aside from the obvious benefit of getting the compressor off the circut, what else have I overlooked? Is there an HVAC/ appliance tech in the house? side note: The space had been previously filled with a stacked (yes, padded) pair of 1964 vintage nearly pristine Bozak 302a Urbans. Should these go to charity? |

You need one of these in an adjacent room.

Play the music louder and drown out the sound of the fridge.

Put the fridge in the garage and walk a few extra feet for the next beer

Jack.......As long as there are no parishable items in the fridge, just unplug the noisy thing while you enjoy your music. The beer will stay cold long enough for you to enjoy it.

How about just trying a Ferrite core noise suppressor around the refrigerator's power cord.
