Joe...if you like this 20 wpc sweetie with your TADs, what would a pair of the 305 wpc Black Beaty's be like???

I believe, JV gave them a Product of the Year award at TAS as well. Here's his review in case you are interested: Carver Black Beauty 305 Power Amplifier | The Absolute Sound

That thought crossed my mind tonight. Looks pretty sweet and fairly easy to maintain.

Joe...and quite the value at #12,900 list compared to some of the gear you got going on over there . If you could sell those Burmies, you would have enough left over for a SOTA turntable

The Burmesters are gone as well as my Dyn C1's. My Sig is current.

Joe...congrats! I did not see mention of that in another thread and didn't pay attention to your sig. That's good news. Did they sell here on AA or did you trade them in toward the Dart pre? Just curious...

By the way, on that front, how are you navigating the Dart pre vs. VAC pre scenario? Do you find you like certain types of music through one vs. another, or is it simply just a mood thing, with each offering a distinctly different sonic presentation? Just curious. Thx

The Dart pre is still inbound. I have not received it yet. I've been using the XP-30 with the Dart lately and enjoying it very much. I need to try the VAC on the Dart amp with a quality RCA interconnect. The newer Dart 108B has transformers on the XLR inputs. The Dart 108A did not have transformers on the XLR input (it was a convenience connection) so the sound is a little more nuanced and cleaner. The XP30 on the Dart is a little sharper, less romantic which balances the Dart very well. That is not to say the VAC is not a good match, it is wonderful with the Dart amp. I like the ability to use the VAC with inferior sources and have it sound wonderful and I like have the XP-30 with better sources that reveal themselves better. It's nice having the ability to tailor the gear to the sound I am looking to hear.

The Dart pre will have the 50 ohm bnc connection to the amp creating a more direct link and better signal purity. I think that will give me the best of both pieces.
