My Carver Black Magic 20 arrived today. What a sweet little amp. I have not had a chance to bring up my Cornwall III's and set them up yet so I decided to hook up my TADs for fun.

Oh my, what a fun amp. It has a volume control, but it really is for preamp matching. They say it is perfectly acceptable to hook up a line level source and adjust the volume with this control. This amp is absolutely incredible.

Upon first firing it up, it had the typical cold amp anemia. I left it playing for about 20-30 minutes while I did other things.

It's not broken in, obviously. But I can tell already the fullness and warmth is coming on. 20 wpc on my TADs is not quite what they recommend but I have to say it's a strong 20 watts. It will be absolute dynamite on the Cornwalls. It's doing a great job on my TADs. For my typical late night listening sessions it is more than enough. It has sweet mids and highs with pretty full bass on my TADs. It is opening up as she runs in. Overall I'd say this is a keeper and can't wait until I get more play time on it as she breaks in. Paired with the Cornwalls, I think I will be grinning ear to ear.

Joe.......I'm with you on the grinning from ear to ear. The Carver Black Magic 20 and the Klipsch Cornwalls will be kicking butt and taking names. I will be following this thread with interest as the amp breaks in. I will also be intersted to discover which preamp, if any, you decide to mate with it. Congratulations.

Get the camera out and let us see the little beauty.

Hey Dan,

It did cross my mind to get the McIntosh D100 to try with it. I think that might be a fun combo.

Thanks Mike. I really think Bob Carver did a nice job with this one. I bet the bigger amps are pretty nice too.

Looking real nice Joe, hope your Black Magic matches up as well sonically as it does aesthetically with the mighty Cornwall III's

Congrats Joe! What a great looking amp. Can't wait to see how it sounds on the Cornwalls.
