Alberto, would you say you arrived at the "Audio Love Zone" when you upgraded from the 252 to 501s?

Are you saying this because I compared the 501s to the 252 with a boob job .

I am not that shallow - I think ...

It was a convergence of things, the combination of MDA1000, MC501s and room treatment combined to FINALLY give me the sounds I was after.

I can say with some confidence that 2uberoller would not be disappointed with a pair of 501s. While nobody can guarantee that 2ube will hear a worthwhile difference, I've pointed out in the past that I can't recall a single person who regretted upgrading to 501s. I certainly haven't and still thank KMC45 for giving me a opportunity to do that - THANKS KMC45!!!

You are welcome.

There's a local place that I do a lot of business with that has a pair of new Cremona M's in one of their rooms. When they are on the MC501's those speakers are stunning. That's all i'll say.

I personally think that the 501s are quite a bit more than just a boob job. You can also throw in some lipo and a tuck here and there. They just bring out more potential out of just about every speaker. There is no doubt that they will make 2ube happy in the long run but he seems hesitant to leave that "comfort zone". "Love zone" takes some experimenting and having the drive to move forward. That is why I asked, because you could have still been listening to the 252 and thinking "it can't get much better than this". I think Ivan knows what I am talking about here more than most...

I too am in the "Audio Love Zone". I feel so fortunate to have the ability to go in my room, turn down the lights, fire up McIntosh electronics, and listen to Sonus Faber speakers. CD, vinyl its all sounding 'spot on' these days. I just reached my first anniversary of Mc+SF this month and there will be many more to come!

Many thanks to all for the wisdom, advice, and direction. This group of audiophiles is the top.

Cheers

nicely written Alberto.....I'm currently in my "Audio Love Zone" thanks to you. Since you had your combo for about 3 years...I like to give my combo at least that amount of time before I go looking for another love.

Briefly, The Zone is that magical place where you and your system/room are in harmony and very happy with each other. You can do better, of course, but you could easily live with the system/sound you have now without regrets for a looooong time. How do you know you are in The Audio Love Zone?

- You look forward to your listening sessions.
- You wish your listening sessions were longer and hate to turn the system off.
- You know your system is not perfect, but it sounds great to you. There are no glaring faults - not too bright, not too thin, not too warm, ..., it feels just right.
- You stop thinking and lusting about other components/systems.

It feels a lot like romantic LOVE - in the sense that you know your mate is not perfect, but you still lover her. There are - for sure - prettier, smarter, funnier, etc., women out there. But you don't care. You have found YOUR love and you have lost interest in other women. You miss your woman when you are not with her, and you don't want your time with her to end.

It does not mean that you can't admire and talk about other systems/women, but you do it with the full knowledge that you have already found something that - even if not perfect - makes you happy and feels like a part of you.

That's the way I feel about my system, and it took me a while to understand why I lost interest in changing anything from what I have now. The love analogy made the most sense to me. They say that love is blind. In this case, audio love might be deaf - because, even though I know I MIGHT improve the sound, I don't think I can love another system as much as this.

It took me many years, and many "dates" to find true love, but my McIntosh + Sonus Faber combo are looking forward to celebrating our first anniversary soon .

... and about the 501s. Just think about them as giving your love a boob job! It's still her - just more of her to love.

Yours truly,

Alberto
I always enjoy what you have to say because you have a way of making a point like nobody else on this forum. I would never have thought to compare my happiness with my system to my feelings toward a woman, but there you go, you explained it in a way that makes sense I had my last system for 20 years and was happy. Serge, is right as well, my ignorance is bliss. I thought the MVP861 cd/sacd player was so good it could not be improved with my speakers, amp and pre amp. . I was wrong and ate some crow for it At the same time I can not hear a difference between cables. My comparison of cables a few days ago was done in a dealer with a sound treated room, top of the line pre amp, $20,000 krell mono amps and SF Elipsa speakers. When I went up to the audioclassics fun day, I compared the MC252 to the MC501's on a pair like my old speakers, the B&W 804 S. I could not hear much of a difference however I was not sitting in the sweet spot the whole time, there was about 10 other speakers in that room, I was not familiar with the music playing and it was a very short quick demo lasting a few minutes. My conclusion at the time was I should upgrade my speakers and source first, which is what I did. I came home sold my speakers, bought the SF cremona's and then the MCD500. I will give the 501's a home demo if Serge lets me. Thanks for your help my brother from another mother

You show exquisite taste in the cinematic arts my friend . If you liked the subtle and nuanced sense of humor of the original, you are going to love "Deuce Bigelow, European Gigolo" even more.

Happy Anniversary J3.

BTW, I love the perspective of avatar picture which makes the Sonus Faber look like giant speakers - like a JL Audio Gotham from Italy.
