I have the giscours but it's the first pre amp from Shindo I have owned, its a great amp but I can't compare. As mentioned i did roll tubes on the cc80's and that was a great benefit.

The amps arrived with the standard golden lion new tubes and I wanted to see how "tuned the amps where to this valve". I bought Shuguang KT88-Z Treasure Series from a Canadian tube outfit and switched them about a year ago,

Initially there was no difference (took a while to get the confidence to re bias the amps) I have now had the shrugs in for nearly a year and they sound better.

What does Better mean to me: wider and higher sound stage, better texture (string really luck your heart - corny i know) and the space between the notes in more intimate (sometime i shush my wife when she talks and I almost fee like apologizing to the musician :-) ). Bass occasionally surprises but is generally on par with the golden lions.

Is 4x the price for tube worth it, that's personal, but for me with the growing investment in my hifi its worth it just to scratch the curiosity itch.
