Magnepan used the Bryston SP2 Preamp, two - 4B SST2 power amps and a Bryston BCD-1 CD Player in this system.

Subject: Thanks for showing me Bryston's new headphone amplifier at CES

James,

I had wanted to thank you for showing me the new Bryston headphone amplifier at CES last Friday, and letting me listen to Bryston amplfiers driving Thiel loudspeakers. Your commentary about what to listen for was most helpful. The sound was among the best I heard at the show. I don't think I can get WIlson Taylor's whistling on "Isn't She Lovely" out of my mind!

Is there any way I could get a copy of the playlist?

I also was excited to learn about the new Bryston headphone amplifier and to get a walk-through of the circuit board by you. I hope that you will consider a review of the headphone amplifier in the future.

As always, it was great spending time with you to catch up on what's going in the world of digital file transports.

Best,
Larry Greenhill

PS: - We used an SP3 Processor and 6B SST2 amplifier with BDP-1 Digital Player and BDA-1 DAC

Alan Taffel's Best of Show

Most Significant Product Introduction

Thiel’s new CS1.7. These modestly sized, modestly priced speakers (about $5500 in 2Q) looked great and sounded even better. Apparently, Jim Thiel’s legacy is fully intact. I predict these will go like Georgetown Cupcakes.

(The above was driven by the SP3 Processor and 6B SST Power amp and BDP-1 Digital Player with BDA-1 DAC.

James.......Interesting that Thiel has had the same room three years in a row. Have they selected Bryston amps all three years?

James.......The room and the set up were impressive. Looks like Thiel's new CS1.7's are going to be a big hit. I'm sure Bryston did its part to make the Thiels sound as good as it appears they did. Congratulations on a successful show.

Hi Dan

Yes I have learned over the years that if the demo sounds great it's the 'Speakers' if the demo sounds bad it's the 'Amps'.

In my world software engineering, if the application runs great and performs well it's well written code. If it's slow or non-responsive it's the network!
