That exactly was my thinking if 2021 would ring in a new 275 anniversary model.

I bought the Orange tester for it’s simplicity. Not as detailed with information as others on the market but it satisfies my needs 100%.

Unfortunately the Orange VT-1000 is out of production.

Default MC275 club

I might be eating my words regarding tube life. Last night when I turned on my system and began playing my first song, there was some distortion and then no playback. I then noticed that the tubes on the MC275VI were no longer lit green and three on the left were flashing red. I shut down the system, waited a minute, and then turned it back on. Everything went from orange to green on the MC275VI as it should and it seemed fine. Playback resumed as normal but now when I turn on the MC275VI, I sometimes get a low level thump out of the speakers that I didn’t get before. This happens right when I turn it on, not after the tube warmup sequence. It doesn’t seem to do it every time I turn the amp on, but when it does, it varies in how loud the thump is. It’s never really loud, but reminds me of my old Adcom system at startup. Any thoughts? Unfortunately, I don’t have a spare set of tubes to try at this time. Also, I thought that if there was a tube failure I would not be able to restart the amp without it going immediately to sentry mode.

I took all of the tubes to my dealer and while I was there, they tested the two KT88’s on the side that flashed red and one tested good and the other test low but still ok. Basically nearing the end of its life is what they said. They’re going to test the rest and get back to me next week. Can a tube that is testing this way cause the sentry circuit to trip?

I keep a set of known good tubes in reserve and if there is a problem I can swap in the new set while I test the older ones.

Not sure on the sentry circuit ‘cause my amp doesn’t have one.

But good luck!

I don't think it is the tubes but something happened.... That thump is the amp charging the capacitors but pulling current current through the speaker to do so. At least that is what happens with other amps. It wasn't doing it before, it should not do it now.
