I still buy my favourites on CD and download to my Melco.

I am still buying CDs to add to my digital music collection.

I buy 'em, I rip 'em and I listen to 'em.

I also keep the physical media just in case even though I've got the collection backed up remotely in two separate places. Is that too much? I have to say, it appeals to my "anal"ytical side.

I believe that Tidal allows you to download music to be played offline. If you download music and it later becomes unavailable on Tidal. Will you still be able to play it from your download (assuming that still subscribe to Tidal)?

That's a great question and I was wondering the same thing. The answer is YES, you can still play the album in question if it was downloaded prior to it becoming unavailable in streaming mode.

I had a particular album in my favorites in Roon and also downloaded it via the Tidal app on my phone. When I noticed that it couldn't be streamed with Roon, I checked the downloaded version on my phone and it was still there and playable.

Weird, I know.

I've downloaded quite a few albums on my iPhone that are not on Tidal anymore but still play off my phone.

I rarely if ever buy new CD's or SACD's, $5 used, sometimes less.

I am sure do to manufacture cost and licensing what I am about to state applies.

So man would it be awesome if once the equipment and total facility was in place and a state of the art listening studio too for not only the engineer making the new media, but to even allow those to come in and demo the media and fantastic gear.

I would propose to do the following; as CD's go away they are replaced as SACD formats and remastered and mixed better where needed. same for Blu-ray media, surround options, hybrid disc and straight SACDs the full gamete of options.

My take would be similar to the 180-200 grain LPs, and that offer 45 speeds as well. So we cater to us, the audiophile crowd similar to the vinyl market.

But keep making Blu-ray and CD/SACD media for those willing to pay a bit more, but make it better quality as well in all aspects.

I would go for that! In fact if I had the resources it is something I would LOVE to do for a living!

Bob... I focus on high end recordings; and remastered CD’s. Also SACD’s and especially newly released Box Sets.

I just bought Queen 40 Box set of 3 Volumes; 10 CD’s in each Volume.
