My living room's a relatively small room at 14 x 18.5". And the acoustics are good in this building; several musicians live/have lived here. I can hear the tiniest click or pop when I play a record (haven't done that in a while). I'd say the new Friedrich is a bit louder than my previous one, but then I also have it on maximum fan speed plus it's a more powerful unit (15,500 BTU vs. 12,000). I always turned the fan down when I was going to play my system before, and things were fine. I haven't tried that yet with the new unit.

Something of a solution to the dilemma of being too cold when the A/C is on full bore and is shooting straight at me on my couch. I engaged the oscillation or "swing" feature for the fan and that helps a bit.
Maybe I won't need air conditioning today, as it's supposed to be only upper 70s, maybe 80. If it's not humid I could open the window and use the window fan in the kitchen on exhaust to get a flow-through effect.
