6sl7’s

I’m listening to a 6v6 Insire amp and have rolled several input tubes. There are two that stand out that play well for all types of music. Best all around is a 1940’s Sylvania VT-229 it has solid bass and clear midrange. Another favorite is Adzam 6sl7, a bit brighter with amazing detail and layering. Find one of each and have fun! I know a few people that own the ACME 2a3, and said they are better than EML Mesh 2a3. I personally own ACME 300B, and they're extremely airy, detailed, and massive soundstage. A tad light on bass, but that's the same problem EML mesh has too. I also sold a 2a3 amp I owned, about a year ago. The buyer didn't want to buy my NOS 2a3. Not sure if you'd be interested, or how we would be able to link up (I can't send PM here). But I have a pair of #1 visseaux, #2 Westinghouse, #3 Fivre. All with < 300hr on them. I'd be willing to let them go for well under ebay prices. Personal opinion, the NOS 2a3 I had handedly outperformed the JJ 2a3-40 I owned in terms of detail, air, soundstage, and nuance. JJ 2a3-40 had better bass and impact tho. |

I want to add a subwoofer to my Betsy baffles. My preamp has only one output. I have a CE Labs 1 in 4 out RCA amplifier to split out the single to go to the inspire and sub amp. Do you think this will work ok?
What do other forum members do if they have this scenario. rmlowz |

We buy Inspire pre-amps. They have two sets of RCA outputs. [emoji12] |

RCA's are more laid back than the Sylvania's. Tubes are like spice, we all have preferences. Synergy is the key, when you find the right tube for your system you'll have a big smile.
