Bill... You may rue that day pal!

Seriously thanks for the offer, and after I get past the pre-amp stage I may talk to you about it.

P.S.: I see you have newer Klipschorns too... interesting!

I know you get the spls but the impedance of the klipschorn varies something like 4 to 50 ohms. This would be one reason why many do not use SET amps. SET amps work best with benign impedances.

Just for added info. My LaScalas are the exact same drivers and crossover as the Khorns, just different cabinets. Before the Shindo I had them with a pair of MC275s and a C2200. They sounded great, very dynamic and incredible soundstage. But when I switched to the Shindo Monbrison and Montille everything was improved tremendously. Consider trying a Montille to start. More than enough power to drive Khorns. With Shindo, the preamp is where the money should go.
Have you checked out the Volti Audio speakers? Google them. They are like an
audiophile grade LaScala. Beautifully built and apparently they sound amazing

I hope you are not trying to say the sound the same, the Klipschorn has a significant bass response. I own both.

The LaScala is a ~2' X 2' x 3' box aka Mini-Fridge, recommend you consider how it will look and how you will manage the listening space. The Klipschorn, as beastly and behemoth-like that it is, tucks very nicely in the corner for 52" tall speaker.

While I have no clue about Shindo electronics anything is a match for Klipschorns and LaScalas.

Nope, these are a mid vintage 1978 Baltic Birch re-veneered in real Zebrawood about 4 years ago. OEM drivers but a custom ALK Engineering Crossover for the mid-high which is time-aligned to the 8' folded basshorn using the McIntosh MEN220. A 500hz Crossover point in the MEN220 is also used in the vertical Bi-amp set-up powered by two McIntosh MC275s MkVI (in stereo mode).

Only thing I want more is a pair of XRT2K with MC1.2K & MC2K amps per side.

Bill,
Not at all inferring they sound the same. Although they do sound quite similar, the Khorn does have more bottom. Both still lack in the bass department. I noticed you use subs also.

Me too and agree. I think a Shindo pre, Montrachet and Cornwalls of any vintage would be hard to top.
