Talking MC1.2KWs

Back in 2020, the wife and I had a pair of B&W 802D3s auditioned for us...and what was driving them? A pair of MC1.2KWs. In fact, I just asked my wife tonight which Mac amp she likes the best and she said "Those big boys that were with those B&Ws we listened to last year."

I couldn't agree more. I've got two great spots just waiting for a pair.

The 1.2KWs pair very nicely with the D3 speakers - keep that spot clear until you’ve got yourself a pair!

My favorite mono blocks are the ones I bought about three months ago. 611's and are the only ones I have ever owned. I do not think I could wrangle the "big boys" plus there would probably break my rack system.....! The 611's work really well with my Mc XR100 speakers. As I have stated before I am addicted to the big blue meters....!

My favorites would be my mc1201's. They were a big upgrade over the old mc2500's they replaced.

Well, we didn't purchase those D3s, but the 1.2KWs would be much higher on our Audio Priorities List, for sure, mate.

I will always have an affinity for the MC30, it's the amp that really puts Mac on the map for me, and while there is no such thing as an undesirable McIntosh mono block, I have to start with this one.

But I can think of a lot of excuses to own many of the other ones, short of insufficiently deep pockets :-)

Appreciate it. Was told that the McIntosh section had a fair amount of activity, and as I'm putting together a Mac oriented theater it seemed the right place to check out. One more audio source in the stable can't hurt.

Well, AN, there are certainly a lot of Mac owners here on the AAF. Welcome aboard!

So far, my favorite McIntosh amp is the MC2301. I listened to the 1.2kws before and although close, I was just mesmerized by the beautiful sound the 2301s can produce.

I need to update pics with the new Classic Audio Loudspeakers T 1.5 reference speakers which replaced the B&W800s.
