Default SLP-05 Tube Rolling

Has anyone had any issues with tube sockets 5 and 6? Those are on the 2nd row, positions 2 and 3, from the left.

I have to periodically jiggle the tube in socket 5 when I get a hum or noise out of my speaker. I have tried several tubes, although they have all been Tung Sols. A friend of mine said I should try a pair of Sylvanias since their pins are different.

Anyone ever experience this?

Here's a tube diagram for convenience:

Are you sure it is a tube? Have you switched a tube that seems to be bad with it's partner (tube #4 in this case)? If it is the tube, it won't be wiggling #5 after the switch, it would be #4. If it is always in the same socket, I would think it was more a connection at the socket that is acting up.

It is definitely the #5 socket. I have had several Tung Sols in there with the same issue.

Just to clarify, I don't think the tube is bad, I think the socket is bad.

Ah! I misunderstood. You were talking about switching out tubes so I thought you were trying to find good tubes. You think a different tube will contact the socket differently to prevent the issue? Sounds like it's worth a try - cheaper than service - even just the shipping if it's under warranty.
