On the history channel they had the history of the porsche car company. I never knew the Ferry Porsche's father, Ferdinand was in bed with Hitler and went to prison after WWII in France. The documentary said that Ferdinand had worked for every other major automotive company in Europe but due to his personality kept getting laid off. Ferdinand started the volkswagen company with Hitler but it was his son who started the porshe sports car company. The documentary said that when Ferry started the porsche automotive company he used volkswagen parts to make the 356 in 1950. "Butsy", Ferry's son designed the 911 as the replacement to the 356 in 1963 with all new parts, engines and the rest is history.

David, I've read the history of Porsche book. It paints a slightly different picture in terms of Ferdinand P. and Adolf H. relationship. I highly recommend for any Porsche enthusiast to read it.
