Sweet indeed. You don't see too many of these out there either. It was just too cool to pass up.

Congratulations, Serge. I test drove one about a month ago and was ready to get out the checkbook myself until Jenny and the dealer talked me into trying to be patient and wait on my incoming Turbo S cab. I still think I should have gotten it! The Spyder is one fun ride!

Serge.......That's the exact reason I try to stay out of new vehicle show rooms now. Ten minutes of wondering around, and the next thing I know I'm in the little glass room with my check book out. Two new vehicles in 2009, and two new vehicles in 2010........so far.

John, two very different cars obviously but having experienced quite a few different Porsches and now this Spyder, I can tell you this:

I was thinking about my GT3 as I was driving home in the new Spyder. The GT3 is a phenomenal car but at times it just seems to be too much of a good thing for the street. I always feel annoyed if I can't go fast in the GT3, it just requires it by nature to extract the most fun out of it. As I was driving the Spyder home, I took it on some back roads for a bit and I realized just how much fun a Porsche can be without actually going triple digits. I know many like the various Boxsters for that reason and I understand it. The Spyder just makes it a bit more fun, throaty exaust, snickety-snick gearbox, great brakes, great feedback through the suspension and the steering wheel feel is awesome. Just a fun, fun car that you can go at a more normal pace and enjoy every minute of it.

The Turbo S is in a different league but on the other hand, the Spyder is a lot of fun at more sane speeds and excels on the twisty roads. Of course it is also $100k lighter on the wallet.

I'll be honest with you, I don't know if I would ever consider another super fast Porsche, just not enough places where one can really enjoy its performance unless you track it. This Spyder seems to hit the sweet spot of budget vs performance vs fun. Now, I wouldn't mind exploring Ferrari as well but not for the performance aspect, just for the experience of something new.

Dan, we should leave our checkbooks at home when we go into those places.

I didn't mean that I was thinking of getting the Spyder in lieu of the Turbo S - I was thinking in addition!

That would be a nice pair! I am thinking of parting with my GT3 though.

Serge: I know exactly what you're talking about. To have the same level of fun in my Ruf, when I had it, required really pushing it. While the same road is fun in the boxster at 65 would require something north of 95 to experience the same level of fun in the Ruf. The Ruf wanted to be run hard all the time! I think you'll be very happy have both the GT3 and the Spyder. A perfect match!
