BMW Museum Spartenburg, SC (many pics)

Stopped by there today and thought I'd share a few pics of the autos/motorcycles on display.

The most facinating to me was the BMW F1 rear end/motor assembly. I have never actualy seen one up close & look in every cranny, per se. The extremely small, 1.4 liters/4 cylinder/turbo'd/producing 1400 HP. Impressive.

The BMW Z1 was a popular car in Germany when I was there.

The little Red car (forgot the model name) was similiar to one I saw at the Check Point Charlie Museum (Berlin) inwhich a person was smuggled from east/west Berlin by being hidden inside the drivers seat!!!!!!!!!!!!

I have ridden my R100-GS by there countless times. Next time I will stop.

Very interesting -- nice to walk around while waiting for the tour to start. Definitely a must see & please call ahead -- reservations are required for the tour:

Tour Information:

Guided tours of the plant are $7.00 US. A discount rate of $3.50 US is available for students and BMWCCA members.

Tour visitors must be 12 years of age or older. ﾠ
No high heels (heel and sole more than two inches high). ﾠ
No "spike" heels (minimum of 1 inch diameter across horizontal plane). ﾠ
No open toe or open heel shoes are permitted - shoes must be fully enclosed.
Plant tours are available by reservation only by calling 1-888-Tour-BMW. ﾠ
Plant tours are for a variety of groups, including schools, seniors, corporations, associations etc. ﾠ
Tours are limited to groups of 20. ﾠ
Tours cannot be booked more than 90 days in advance. ﾠ
It's a fascinating and extensive walk through the BMW plant so wear comfortable, fully enclosed walking shoes. ﾠ
Approximate tour length is one hour. ﾠ
No cameras or camera phones are allowed inside the plant. ﾠ
