I thought you just got a new DAC. No? I'm done with my DAC search (for this week anyway). The DAC2X is amazing.....BUT....it needs 200+ hours of break in too! I'm way way past that now since I leave it on 24/7 now with music playing through it. I would guess I'm past 1200 hours now.

I've been reading this thread and it's been interesting because I'm just breaking in DS450M monos. Good thought that it's a journey, because i've been sometimes a little a bit frustrated. At the beginning everything seemed to be fine, maybe little a bit low and top end extensions missing and some harsness in the sound. Now, in the middle of break in sometimes I feel that sound is getting worse, especially in a complex material. But I have been enjoying every moment that I have been listening them. I'm breaking my new Magnepan speakers at the same time, so can't really say surely which characteristics come from which?
It's interesting to see sometimes ARC gear on sale that has 150 - 400 hours on it. Maybe they just haven't been patience enough. |

Heck send me your Ref gear and I would be more than pleased to break it in and return it to you (very small fee applies). |

Since getting it - my search for the perfect DAC paused. It might be on pause for a while. IMO there aren't any better than the DAC2X that can also do DSD natively.
