Dan is correct, the Blinder shoots laser back, the cop gets an "error", you slow down, and the Blinder automatically will shut off in a couple of seconds (adjustable), if the cop lasers you again, he will get a reading of the speed you are now going, which should be at or below the speed limit.

Well based on this ruling, it doesn't matter what type of detector you own.

Radar not required in Ohio
Buckeye State's high court rules officer's best estimate of speed is sufficient to issue ticket

As if Michigan drivers weren't already leery about driving in Ohio, now the Ohio Supreme Court has added to the paranoia.
The court recently ruled that police in the Buckeye State can legally issue speeding tickets based on educated guesses.
While radar and laser readings are preferred, they aren't mandatory.
In a 5-1 ruling, the court said "a police officer's unaided visual estimation of a vehicle's speed is sufficient" as long as the officer is sufficiently trained and experienced in estimating speeds.
The ruling came about after an officer on radar duty stopped a motorist near Akron about two years ago for ripping along at 81 in a 60 mph zone.
The judge dismissed the citation when the officer couldn't produce his radar certification, but did allow the experienced officer to estimate the driver's speed at 79 mph.
The driver lost and then appealed to the Supreme Court where he lost again.

I guess there have always been ways to ticket someone without recording their speed; driving too close for conditions, driving in an unsafe manner, not driving in a manner consistent with current conditions, etc.

I would love top stand in court and swing a baseball bat and ask the officer on the stand how fast the bat was moving. If his/her guess is more than 10% out of range, See Ya!!

Of course I think it is about money, but it has nothing to do with liberal justices.

Cops are generating funds that helps keep them employed and in many locales they get overtime for going to court. They are doing what they are told, but they aren't making our cities any safer.
