Default Joe Bonamassa concert

We had a great time at a Joe Bonamassa concert last night in Chattanooga, TN. Joe is one of the most talented guitar players on the planet and it shows when you can actually watch the guy perform his craft. The man is one with a guitar.

Joe's band for this tour is a who’s-who of A-list musicians. Keyboardist Reese Wynan played with Stevie Ray Vaughn and is in the Rock Hall of Fame. Drummer Anton Fig played drums on David Letterman for 30 years and has played with just about every artist you can name. Bass guitarist Michal Rhodes is the top session bass player in Nashville and has recorded with Mark Knopfler, Johnny Cash, Willie Nelson and a whole host of country greats. Name a famous country song and he’s most likely the bass player. Trumpet player Lee Thornberg played with Supertramp and was the trumpet player for Jay Leno’s band. Sax player Paulie Cerra is known for his work with Stevie Wonder, Billy Preston and a host of chart topping recordings.

The show started exactly on time which pretty much shocked everyone in the 2000 seat venue. The energy level from start to encore is best described as intense. Joe says “thank you” at the end of each song and immediately launches into the next one. Jam sessions are major league. There was no chatter with the exception of the band introductions. He gave each band member the spotlight several times throughout the evening to show off their talents. The music, quality and level of talent is off the charts. If Joe Bonamassa comes to your town, buy a ticket.

Yes sir, a true musician who is very humble. He has another collaboration with Beth Hart coming out soon. I have seen many shows in my 60 yrs and Joe is near if not at the top for his ability.

He’s literally phenomenal, and one of the few acts I’m willing to see live. I’ve been waiting for the right venue and intend to go see him. I also plan to pay what I must to sit near the front so as to enjoy that must be close to the stage experience where you can see the gestures and finger work as they shred throughout the show.
