If you make a statement like that, then back it up...let’s see a link. Your statement is not only false, but couldn’t be farther from the truth. |

No interest in any Jeep products or suv type vehicles in general. Now if it had been Dodge Challenger or Ford Mustang that be different.

The Challenger and Mustang aren't in the luxury vehicle category and don't fit the McIntosh brand footprint. If the Jeep Grand Wagoneer and Grand Cherokee experiment is fairly successful, there will probably be other luxury vehicle lines that give McIntosh a shot.

saying Jeep Grand Cherokee is luxury is like saying a Ford Expedition is luxury - don't think so

Luxury is one of those funny topics, because to me, the level of the trim, while being somewhat important, is secondary to the function of the vehicle for which it is intended. If one wants an SUV that fits the whole American sized family and their dog, there is nothing better that a 3 row SUV or the "soccer mom minivan" which are way less popular these days. Plenty of choices there. If one wants an SUV that handles like a sports car, then the BMW and Porsche are top choices with the Audi being close behind but even the Jeep TrackHawk is fairly well adapted to aggressive driving. Try and see if you can explore the limits of any of them on the street legally. Acceleration wise, which is pointless in an SUV, we now have 700HP stoplight drag racer SUVs from Jeep. True luxury, or "ultra-luxury" is the level at which the Bentley, Rolls Royce and Lamborghini (I am sure Ferrari will join in soon) are all hand built and crafted. Those true luxury items exist for the connoisseur that can afford such items. It is only at that level, one can honestly proclaim "luxury" while passing the Grey Poupon. To me, the SUV is a tool. With my hobbies and the things I need to fit into the back of one, as well as traversing some unpaved roads from time to time and with quite a few winters presenting us with some white stuff accumulation in the form or snow and ice, both the Grand Cherokee and my Wrangler Rubicon were simply outstanding. Can't say the same about some of the other German SUVs in my past. So luxury means very little when one is stuck in an snow/ice storm on the side of the road. So if one knows exactly what they want from their SUV, be it "the over 200 inch, home away from home, land yacht" or the "off-road capable" or "the sport car like, nimble family hauler", or even the true ultra-luxury SUV, "hand crafted statements of wealth and success in life" from the house of Bentley, Rolls or Lamborghini... There is a choice for everyone out there. Bottom line, the Grand Wagoneer L will deliver exactly what that particular segment and focus of the American, "extra-size me", "are all the kids and the two dogs in the car, so we can go already" market wants at its very generous 205 inch, land yacht capacities and the capability to take the family far off the beaten path with the Jeep "know how" of over 75 years. The rest is just keyboard pontification. Last edited by PHC1; 02-24-2021 at 02:14 PM. |
