Nor was I...until I tried. Rather than focus on the end point or ratios, you might try one high end cord and see what happens, just as an experiment

I have ordered my supplies and will give this try. Furutec cord and Wattgate plugs. Still deciding whether to wrap them in nylon mesh.

I have very nice, but not insanely expensive ($800 to $2000 price range) cords on most of my system, mostly made by a company called Gutwire on Canada... with interconnects mostly from McIntosh *they farm it out to a company in Florida and a couple of other mid-range priced brands..

Why?

Because they look pretty darn good on my system, and I know they're high quality and will not introduce issues into my system such as RF or magnetic field interference...

But I can't hear the difference between them and the standard cords... that's just me.

Default New Power Cords

I finally got the necessary supplies to make my DIY power cords. If anyone is interested, the cord and plugs are Furutech and the covering and heat shrink tubing are from Amazon. I made 5 cords in all from 18" up to 44". Not shown was a heat gun I bought to use on the shrink tubing.

This is what I used and I bought it from thecableco.com. They sell DIY components or ready built stuff. You can certainly spend more on components or less depending on your budget. As far as sound I have no clue if it makes any difference. These are much better than factory cords in my opinion.

Furutech FP-S022N Power Cord (Bulk)
Furutech FI-11M-N1 (G) Power Connector
Furutech FI-11-N1 (G) IEC Connector
