Has anyone heard this integrated yet compared to MA9000 ? Coming from MC75 mk3 monoblocks and C2700 is really taking some room and for a small bedroom system I have thought about downsizing a lot in future when the right integrated arrives. And this new integrated really checks off almost all of the boxes for me. The size and weight are the only turnoffs for me but it would still be saving some room compared to what I have now.
The other sticking issue is of course how does the modern Mac solid state amps and preamps sound compared to their tube stuff ? I'm more of a tube guy when it comes to musical taste but have also heard how good solid state can be when I briefly owned the Schiit Aegir monos and Luxman L509x. |

Did you not notice that the MA12000 has a tube preamp section?

Yes I was referring to MA9000 compared to MA12000. Either way I will most likely stick with what I have. One great thing about Mcintosh tube gear is how long those tubes really last - which depending on use can be extremely long. The flagship Mac integrateds are too big , heavy and not cheap. Also for a small bedroom system the MC75s are all the power I'll ever need. I do augment the very lowest octave with a single Martin Logan sub which really helps. |

Especially when the footprints of Mc75 are pretty small for monoblocks. I can move any piece around whenever I need to. Can't say the same with those integrated, it's a two person job.

Such a beast. It only appears to weigh 2.5 Lbs. less than my MC402, with very similar dimensions. Just don't handle the MA12000 alone, or you're surely need serious hernia surgery.

I made the mistake of trying to move my MC462 alone... I came with in an inch of probably throwing out my back.. much easier with two!
