Not sure I am going to get the vaccine. Still thinking about it. I hear the stories about some pretty bad side effects, and they make me suspicious of getting it even though the percentage of people who have significant side effects is small; they're no less real though. I saw part of a program with a former Pfizer scientist that fueled this further. Then there's my co-worker, who got the vaccine and other than extra fatigue and the need to drink more fluids, seems fine.

Is there anyone else here on the fence?

I found the only benefit I have received to being over 65 was the ability to get the vaccine early. I had zero side effects from both shots. I wasn’t even tired and now l am not scared for my life out in public

So far it is a personal decision.

Like a majority of adults, my wife and I chose to get ours.

Since you had the virus, your situation is different and should be guided by your medical professionals.

When I was a kid, I was in the cohort that got the very first oral polio vaccines. Some kids that were older than I was by just a few years got polio and were paralyzed for life. Some died.

Nobody in my cohort got polio.

The side effects of oral polio vaccine were much worse than what we are seeing with the mRNA Covid 19 vaccines today.

But there wasn’t the anti-Vax fervor that I see today. Everybody I knew got the vaccine.

When I see people citing potential side effects as a reason not to get vaccinated, I remember that Polio has been all but wiped out globally.

My Father-In-Law also caught Polio in the late 1960's, as the Vaccine was rolled out slowly in New Zealand, and as Whangarei is in the upper North Island, and he lived on a Farm- is was even slower. He caught Polio before the vaccine arrived- his young brother was vaccinated about 2 months later and wasn't infected.

My Father-In-Law survived, but it greatly affected him. He 'walks funny' due to the damage Polio did, and it has also affected other areas of his general health. He thinks anti-vaxers are stupid.

My wife was also a pediatric nurse - she witnessed a number of young babies die of whooping cough whose parents didn't have them Vaxed as they believed all the anti-vax propaganda, their response was always the same- we didn't think whooping cough could kill, we made a bad mistake, we will get all our other kids vaccinated now. Of course too late for the poor baby.

Sigh, as my wife said- we live in the golden age of vaccines & antibiotics which has saved countless lives, yet we are approaching a dark age as antibiotics lose their effectiveness & anti-vax propaganda means we struggle to obtain herd immunity from diseases that can & will kill.
