Default Mark Levinson system rides off into the sunset

Today, my Mark Levinson system rode off into the sunset. All McIntosh here now. Truthfully, it was kind of attached to my LX 470. Best sounding stock car stereo I've had the pleasure of owning. It will be a high bar to measure up to, for sure.

I hope that my Lexus LX470 will last forever - and not just for the Levinson audio stuff that resides therein. I like the car (some call it a truck), enjoy driving it, and being retired, just don't want to have to buy anything new. . . .

As for the Levinson sound system. . . I use it mostly to listen to the news and to play audio books . . so I guess I'm not as hooked on the audio as I am on the car.

Actually, I bought the LX-470 because it was the smallest "luxury" SUV that would pull my 6,000 pound boat - and it does so better than the Suburban that it replaced.

Julian,
It will last forever, especially if you bought it new and have run it in a climate without a lot of road salt. My LX-470 lived in the North Country all its life and was starting to have corrosion problems so it was time to say goodbye. Sad day. For long trips, it was the most comfortable vehicle I've ever driven.

Since this is my daily driver and I'm not towing anything currently, I replaced it with a BMW 545 xi sport wagon. Starting in 2011, BMW stopped importing the wagon. Too bad, really. I love the utility of wagons and SUV's. I still have two smaller SUV's in the fleet.

I used the Levinson system to listen to our local classical and jazz stations, both of which are very well engineered and sound fantastic.

Tom...my dad just bought a new LX 470. His words were I can't believe I waited so so long. Like Julian they have a boat and their salesman told them there would be no problem towing. Enjoy your new BMW.
