So can someone take a shot at explaining this phenomenon of pramp synergy from a design standpoint.

I was planning to match an MSB with a MomS in a digigital only setup and thought as long as I had the voltages and impedences compatible between the two I would actually be elinimating a filter by avoiding the pre.

That would depend on what MSB you have & whether you have the MSB analogue volume option

FlexibleAudio.......Since Jim's (Still-One) thread is about his experience with the D'Agostino preamplifier in his system and has nothing to do with your topic, I suggest you start a separate thread to address the issues that concern you and your MSB gear. We will respect your topic the same way we expect you to respect Jim's topic. Your question is a good one and deserves its own thread. Thank you.

Jim.......Now that the D'Agostino preamp has been gone a short while, how is your system sounding in it's absence? Is the D'Agostino preamp still preying on your mind?

Dan , yes I still miss having the Momentum Pre in the loop. I am pretty sure that I will get one at some point but I am going to spread out my purchases a bit.

Dan,

My question was meant to focus on what Dan D. is doing with his preamp/amp interface to achieve this =>

Quote:
Bottom line. My system has never sounded better. I don’t want to stop listening each day. It is quite possible that I am going to have a hard time enjoying my system without the Momentum pre-amp in the loop. I guess I will know once I return the unit on Wednesday. The clarity, the additional weight to piano notes, the width and depth of the soundstage, the added musicality for strings and bass and the synergy between the power amps and the pre-amp. Shear bliss
This "synergy" may be somewhat singularly related to Dan's design in a way that may justify the inclusion of his pre in a one-source digital system. It seemed to me that might have a little to do with the thread - D'Agostino Pre-amp Mini Review, since Jim has the DAG amps in "his system" and was reviewing the DAG preamp in this context, but maybe not.

Very sorry about that Jim.

At the Paragon event last fall Dan 'Agostino mentioned something about having designed something in the power amps that when paired with the Pre makes them sound so good. I don't remember if he expanded on this or not. Maybe Chuck , out or Frank who were also there could expand on this.

FlexibleAudio.......Everything is good. Just making sure original topics are being respected. Thanks for the clarification.

Jim,

I have heard the same comments regarding the pre synergy that Dan has created with his amp. Innovative Audio claims it is magical. Better than MSB IV Diamond direct and they have both on their floor. I have to get out to NY to hear it as Dan doesn't have a dealer in Chicago.
