I am using an old Krell KAV-500 for center and rear duties, and I am using a Class A 2 channel amp (Aleph J) hand built by Nelson Pass for my main left and right speakers. The Krell is a 5 channel amp at 100 wpc +/- 3db and the Aleph J is 25 wpc +/- 1db. However, I am using Infinity Composition Preludes which play 96db with a 1 watt input @ 3 meters. My system did not come together until I purchased the SP3. If you would like to read about my personal sonic experience with the SP3, go the AVS forum, look under Receivers, Processors and Amps and go to the Official Bryston SP3 Thread. Its a lot more active than audio afcionado on the SP3. I strongly encourage the purchase of the SP3. Its still the best sounding processor, and its probably under priced considering its sound and modular architecture.

Hello,

I'm new in this forum and own an SP3 since half a year. Now I add a second sub, but the line level of the second sub out (AUX-R) on SP3 is a lot lower as the Sub Out ( I use the RCA plugs for both).
I don't see a seperate level trim for the second sub in the menu.

Have anyone notice the same ?

Thank you so much for the information.
I only knew the Bryston SP3 thread on AVS and that isn't an active one. Now I know why.

My sincere pleasure. I thoroughly enjoy the sound of my SP3, and I hope you will seriously consider one for purchase. It has a characterless sound that allows the recording to shine. It is particularly excellent at playing SACDs and with Sony SACD players or PS3 SACD, the SP3 will play DSD at PCM 176.4 sampling rate that sounds amazing. It allows you to hear the rear channels as never before. Right now, I'm on a muli-channel SACD binge.

Well, actually one of the first buyers of one.
And thus I have it enjoyed quite a while.
What I am interested in is e.g. the effect of changes in new firmware and the possibilities new firmware offers.

Opps! I did not know your already owned one. Well, the latest upgrade is for March 2014, but there was in upgrade in October 2013 that allowed a SACD sampling rate of 176.4 in 5 channels as opposed to 88.2 in 5 channels. The increased sampling rate made a significant improvement in the sound and really made the rear speakers open up as I have never heard before. But, I have discovered that Oppo players cannot play 176.4, but are limited to 88.2.
All Sony players that play SACD, even the cheap ones, can play 176.4.

I didn't realise there was a new firmware in march14. I don't like the fact that I need switch sources , pressing the hdmi button and then back to digital for the audio sound to come out. Maybe an update will fix that. Where do I find out more on the updated changes?

Bryston SP3' Bryston 6b-sst, 3b-sst, BDA-2, Dynaudio Confidence C2 (front), Dynaudio SCX (center), Dynaudio Audience (rears), ocos speaker cables, Vertere USB D-FI DD and most Bryston interconnect cables

Get Stan at Bryston to e-mail you the latest software. I very rarely have the problem with HDMI that you are experiencing. Which software version are you currently using?
