Likewise but the only way I can hear it is to buy it first. My audioquest sounded mediocre, and blue jeans was a big improvement. So I know cables make a difference, and I also know that price is not always indicative of quality. I can buy and toss blue jeans cables so the risk is small. But the 5-15K price tag for cables mean I have a lot of due diligence.

The only dealer willing to have a demo is nordost. And that's nearly double the price of Shunyata in the line I like. I'm still waiting on my Shunyata cable. I have an order for one cable from Oct 27th which hasn't shown up yet due to a dealer's error that put a huge delay.

I think this is similar to the discussion of THD vs. frequency measurements of audio equipment.

Will a 0.005% amplifier sound better than one that measures 0.05%?

Maybe, maybe not. There are too many other factors involved. The same is true with wire.

Tom
I don't know, but the best amp I've ever heard is .0006-.0008% THD. Music was beautiful, no matter how loud it was it was still quiet. Hard to explain with noise gone. However the room had perfect acoustics other factors, but I was most impressed (which is admittedly not too hard)

Yes, I think that is the point. I have no problem with a claim that a company has a special process, construction, etc., which enhances performance, or simply claiming that their product sounds better, but specific numeric claims should be supportable.

Is this 1970's all over again (the THD race) hopefully the new will wear off for Mouse and we can get on to other matters. I had the pleasure to work with an engineer who specialized in wire, power grid, and transmission line theory. We spent much time discussing these fascinating topics and I decided it best to leave it in his hands.

TRY IT, LIKE IT, BUY IT

Doesn't The Cable Company have no-cost demo loaners? Once upon a time they did.
Also, you might check with Ivan to see what he has available as demo loaners. You never know.
