The SACD, BD and Furman Elite have Stratus 7; the 2300 has Electra 7. Everything else is series 5.2. Well, not everything; The TV has a Venom 3s, the VPI SDS has a PS Audio Jewel, as do my Oppo 83 and Duo VP.

Series 7 is, according to WW, better. And a Series 7 cord is at least equivalent to the next model up in Series 5.2, they believe. Thus, the Stratus 7 is on par with an Aurora 5.2, and so on. I like how things sound, and would thus be reluctant to change brands, and would rather not have to resort to tricks and tweaks, but if the irritation becomes great enough, I may well do it. I don't like looking at the "droop" but can't argue with the sound. A bit of a conflict in my head at this point.

On the other hand, tomorrow night I'm to see the Jazz at Lincoln Center Orchestra with Wynton Marsalis, performing a program of Thelonious Monk's music. Special guests are Brad Meldhau and Joey Alexander, an eleven year-old piano prodigy. That should be fun. I will NOT have drooping power cords on my mind at that point!

hmm, does Wireworld offer different IEC options? Like Wattgate, Furutech, etc. If so it might be worth while trying another connector.

I just experienced the Furutech FI-50(R) for the 1st time this week. I have it on my Siltech Ruby Hill II. The sheer weight of the power cord itself is causing downward pull but the IEC holds up to it remarkably well with just an ever so slight droop. This is on my MC-12. I'll know if it's similar behaviour (i.e. well balanced and not much droop) as I move it to other components. This will tell if different IEC inlets react the same or different, if drooping seems to come more from the IEC connector of the cable or the IEC inlet of the equipment.

WW does not offer other IEC options. Although I have seen a few pics here showing a droop, I can honestly say I have not experienced it myself. With literally a hundred+ components, I have never encountered this situation. If I had, rest assured it would have been addressed.

I use Silver and Platinum Electra PC's w/ upgraded Silver Plugs exclusively throughout all my systems.

I think the issue is the IEC connector on the gear. How close it meets the spec will affect the grip of the cable. Anyway, a trick I picked up from somewhere is to add a piece of electrical tape on the PC plug. Usually, a small strip on top is sufficient to tighten the grip, but if it is really loose then wrap the tape around the plug and it will really be tight.

Currently everything in the stereo is very good fitting, but I have some tape on gear in the HT.

Bud... I agree, I will use my micrometer to measure WW, Shunyata, and Furutech's connectors.

Great! That is the type of measurement I can understand, and use.

That makes sense to me as well. I have no problems with my current gear but have had a problem in the past and have had to use tape or shims under the plug, and I've been pretty consistently using Shunyata cables.

I've mentioned the PS Audio Jewel cables as no problem on IEC grip. While they are somewhat stiff, they have a good bending radius. The WW cables I have may be more flexible overall, but the construction of the Jewel, along with its IEC, may make it easier for the cord to hold grip. The stiffness seems to translate into less downward droop at the IEC. Perhaps the connector slots are smaller than the Wireworld's connector slots as well; I haven't measured anything so I won't say for sure. Just a thought.

Nothing to do with power cords, but I mentioned going to a JALC concert last night. It was amazing. And THIS guy, perhaps most of all. He's only twelve.

Back when I was using the Mojo Audio power cables, a couple of them would droop a little in two components, but not to the point of losing electrical connection to the gear or physically falling out.

All of my power cables now are WW Aurora 7's with the latest ends on them, and they are all nice and snug, just like a bug in a rug.
