I'm glad that MF Bought these (over those god awful Q5's).There are so many of us who can only dream of owning Alexandria's. Having set up a few of these amazing speakers, I can honestly say that these are the best speakers I have ever heard. Set up properly in the right room they truly are a marvel. I hope that MF does not compare every other speaker he reviews to the XLF's, like he does every TT to the Continuum Caliburn. From reading many of his TT reviews and comparisons to the Caliburn, I know that he's done quite a disservice to other TT's.

-- Nah, Michael's pretty fair in that regard.

How about being audio journalist has become lucrative enough to buy a pair of speakers more that $1000 pair?

I say big congrats to Mikey. We should all be so lucky as to be able to purchase what we desire.

I am not sure that sitting close to the speakers is an issue if properly set-up. When Jerron came to my house he actually moved my chair over 1 1/2 feet closer to the speakers then readjusted the alignment of the various drivers.

My wilsons cost less than the california sales tax on mikey's new speakers. Always good to know after 40 years of buying and selling gear i am still wading in the kiddie pool(makes etrade baby face) Good on mikey, i am envious but in the good sense of the word. Happy holidays to all

Bill,
IMHO, the ultimate headphone system is a pair of SoundLab A1's in a 10x10 feet room - I saw a picture of such a system in a Japanese hifi magazine in the 90's.
