The Klipsch Heresy III on duty in the main system : what an incredible surprise !!!

2 consclusions :

The 300B is too good. My "buyer" did not send the money as he said so I decide to keep it. What an amazing combo with the Snappers !

I may decide to sell the Wilsons if the Klipsch sing with the Shindo system as well as they do with the Manley one !!! I just cannot believe what I'm hearing !!!!

Honestly, those terminals are not up with the overall Wilson quality. I always felt rather bad about them but now I understand why they never inspired me some confidence.
At this level of quality, Wilson should really implement higher quality terminals.

Hope the repair process is not too long.

Does someone know if the terminals can be easily changed without soldering anything inside ? Is there a crimping or screwing system inside the speaker or will I need to solder ? I hate soldering so if soldering is needed I will call my dealer. I may to ask Wilson directly. Do you know who I should contact ?

On top of all that, I broke a silver banana of my Wire World SE6 speaker cable !

Yes, you can call it a bad day !
Jerome,

Sorry to hear about your misfortune. However, if you discover that your Klipsch do the job you might be able to sell the Wilsons and be ahead of the game!

The binding posts are not an easy repair job. I broke mine by over tightening, and it was a real pain to fix it. You will need to contact Wilson (through your dealer) to get the replacement parts. And it is more than just the binding post, it will most likely be an integrated unit. I think the one for my Sashas cost about $300! Then you need to take the bottom off the speaker, remove the cross over box and you will be able to get to the binding post. But the hardest part was desoldering the connection to remove the broken binding post. Wilson does a great job of soldering connections, in addition to using nuts and bolts for making connections. I actually had to have a technician come to my house to help me with it.

But in the end, I'm glad that I took the time to do it right and my speaker is back to original condition.

Good luck,

Dave

Dave,
Great info ! Thanks so much.
That was my guess that it would be a PITA.
That 's a shame for Wilson to use such connectors. I have had dozen of speakers and this never happened to me.
Well, the Klipsch are really awesome in the main room.
Either I'm getting crazy, or I 'm loosing my ears, but my feeling is that I would not miss the Wilsons at all with the Klipschs. They are just incredible.
And they lay on the floor !!!

I agree that the binding posts seem cheap and thin, and not up to par with the rest of the build quality of the speakers.

I've learned my lesson though, no more tightening with the special tool that they provide. Just finger tightening from now on.

Keep us posted on your Klipsch...I'd like to hear more about your comparisons.

Dave

Ah !
Will learn that lesson Dave.
Always used the special tool to tighten the cables.
Will tell you more about the comparison of the Klipschs and the Wilsons in a few days.
I am under the shock of what I'm hearing right now. But this may be very room dependent.
My room seem to LOVE the Heresy's.
Even my wife said " hey this is really beautiful ! " and the Shindos were not even playing !
