Thinking add a sub

Hi ,

First time in my audio journey thinking about to add a sub. I heard a lot about the JL Audio and REL.

I like the JL Audio better due to small foot print. As you can see on my signature system 1 &2. I might going to use on both side. It's not that l need it but wants to add a little touch.

Which model should I go for ? Any advise ?

Paul - I tried my Strads with two JL Audio F110's and it sounded excellent. Blended very well. I think Ivan has some F110's still. You might want to ask him.

What are you going to use to cross them over? The MEN220? Something else?

I havent owned a JL Audio sub, but I've seen the positive feedback the same as you have. Hard to argue with it.

As far as REL goes, I have owned a couple of them and I find them to be fantastic sub's!

Either way, I think your going to be happy.

The benefit of REL is that you won't need a separate crossover. The REL's have the secret sauce built in!

Is there any way I can use with the C2300 straight without the cross over ? If so how you connect them ?

IF you go with a REL sub, yes. If you go with JL Audio, no. You will need something to handle the crossover (you can do this on the JL Audio sub), but how would you connect it to the 2300?

I'm sure if a Bryston 10B-SUB is a better bet for the crossover??

I've owned JL, Velodyne, and REL....all with excellent results, but I've come to the consensus that RELs really are the way to go in a 2 channel music system. I finally opted on 2 stereo subs (REL B2s) that integrate perfectly with the speakers. I found that the RELs totally disappear and augment the fronts perfectly. I had great results with Velodyne and JL as well, but when I switched to the RELs, it was like adding depth to the music rather than adding good subwoofers. Kind of hard to describe, but for music I probably won't go back.

So If I purchase the REL sub how you connect to C2300 ? Any idea ? Perhaps use a output 1 or 2 to use them ?

Or should I put the post on Mc thread ?

Connect at the speaker terminal.

I've got my 2 RELs hooked up with the neutrik connector at the speaker terminals of the MC 402 amplifier. According to REL this is the ideal way to hook their subwoofers up due to blending/tailoring the sound of your upstream components to the signal entering the sub. I've tried hooking them up with RCAs directly out of the back of the preamp, but it seems to work just fine the other way, which saved me a couple of long cable runs. I would recommend using their neutrik connector and doing it that way.
