I was merely pointing out that the CLX's panel size (high freq transducer) is really not that big (490 sq in) vs that of the Renaissance 15a (690 sq in)

I'll get to hear the Renaissance 15a on the 25th of this month when Magnolia in Dallas(Preston Rd) has an audio event where they will have the 15a's to demo. Finally get to hear them and then decide which I like better! All I can say so far is that the CLX with the pair of 212 subs were in another class from the 13a Expression because I did get get to compare those head to head and to me it was no contest(clearly my opinion only). The vastness of the sound stage was unlike anything I've ever heard with the CLX. Can't wait to hear the 15a's! Anyone in Dallas should come out so we could all meet up in person!

gadawg, I purchased CLX's last summer and still think the are amazing.
I went to listen to them at the client home of the dealer I was working with. After listening for about 1 1/2 hours I went with the dealer back to his showroom and listened to the 15A's. Though they sounded great I would say that, for me, the CLX's were about about 20% better. All that and the cost of the CLX's were about 10% less than the 15A's. I have them mated with the 4 Depth i subs I used with my previous CLS IIz's. |

I was able to meet up with gadawg at the event... We didn't get to hang out for too long but we swapped some thoughts on the 15a. Enlightening event.

Joey ... great to finally get to meet you today!!! As for the 15a .... They definitely do some things really well and no doubt a larger sound stage than my Ethos. Definitely can tell they are related though and in a smaller room the Ethos would still be great. For me the CLX with 2 ML212 subs really is in a different league all together. The CLX had much more presence, slightly better imaging and about the same depth presentation as the 15a. The CLX almost seemed a little smoother on the top end as well. Now I just have to decide if I really want to live with the CLX long term as they won't easily go into another room if I upgrade again down the line. :-) Will let you guys know what I decide in the next few weeks for sure!

Well this seems easy. . Never compromise. I am stepping into a similar speaker in the summer. I have a room ... and they will work. Will I have a room in the future? Well if I make that a priority... yes!! I have trouble backing off of the kit because of room. I always figure if I don't have the room now - I will in the future. Then I only spend once.
