As someone who just purchased the RP10 a couple weeks ago, I would of course be partial to it. It is truly a bargain that does not sound like one. With the Grado Statement 2 cartridge, it has good tonal lushness coupled with detail and speed. Soundstaging is absolutely top notch, which is highly evident thru my speakers designed for time coherence.

Here’s another vote for the RP10. In terms of value I don’t think you can beat it. It’s very musical, detailed, rhythmic, has great imaging and soundstage, and is a breeze to set up and play. If you love to tweak; if you just like the look of big, heavy tables; or if you enjoy the ritual of stopping the platter and playing with record clamps every time you change sides, then the Rega isn’t for you. If you want to just listen to music hassle-free, then it’s an unbeatable option. The Aphelion is a great cartridge, but others match very well with this table, like Yong’s new Statement.

Yes, that’s a good value as well, but wasn’t one of the OP’s original choices listed.

While the SL-1200G is I’m sure a decent TT.......I bluntly despise it’s DJ look/heritage . |

LOL, I understand, but keep in mind that 'industrial look' has stood the test of time ! Besides it's a safe bet it will outlast any Rega ever built. The only performance nod that could possibly be given to the Rega would be it's arm to which I agree is a fine piece !

These are such bold, definitive claims. Have you owned one of Rega’s better tables, like a P9, RP8 or RP10? There are many old Regas still out there running without problem. Part of their durability is the simplicity of their design. And as for the “only performance nod,” read a few of the reviews out there, or better yet, audition one in a good system.
