Dan - can you still buy the Anniversarios? If so, that's another great option - easier to drive too.
The anniversario is not available, only dealers
With them on stock

Keep us posted ! I'm on the same boat.

Why didn't you like the Aviors ? I'm seriously considering those.

I liked them, want to here them in a different setting. They were a little on the thick side for me in the room at RMAF.
I think all that i have heard so far in this price are good. Just (speaking for me and me only) some are better than others. My wife OTOH, is much quicker to cross speakers off our list.
I'm really in a win/win place right now. I really like what i have now, two years plus of huge enjoyment. If we dont find something that can equal what we have, plus add a few things we would like to see bettered, we will put the annual audio fund into other areas of the system and wait on speakers.

You are fortunate to have a spouse that appreciates and supports your passion for great sound.

As others have said already, there are many great choices in this price range. I think you will enjoy the Magico S5s. As you can tell, there are many Sonus Faber advocates in the forum. They are a terrific blend of fine art, craftsmanship and sound.

In the end, let your ears (and your wife's) decide. Enjoy the pursuit!

Bob

I was in the similar boats and finally took the plunge last week .

Oh man...I really enjoyed the journey but I'm so glad it's over now.
I found there are so many great speakers in that price range.
Here are some lists I auditioned : Sasha,Sophia3,( both were really clean and detailed ) B&W 800D & 802D,(Sounds nice but little dry to my ears ) Magico S5,Kef Blade (If I have a bigger room ),Dynaudio C4 & C2, JBL S4700,Focla Scala ( Nice but not enough to bring my attention ) ,Kharma DB9, Sonusfaber Futura ( I've been owner of Elipsa for last 2yrs and I guess I was expecting too much....) ...

My last 3 choice was Magico S5,Dynaudio C4 and Vienna Acoustics Klimt The Music ( Not the Kiss ) and I liked all of them.

I asked myself one last question before making a final decision.

"Which speakers do I want to go back and listen to them again and again ? "

and that was it. The Music made me go back three times and I wanted make sure I like them even on second and third visits and I did.

And now the Music speakers is in my room and breaking in nicely.

hope this helps and enjoy the journey.

Tom, great choices!
I've been through the same journey 2 years ago.
Also with my wife.
That made it even more fun.
You can see in my signature what the result was. We're still in love with them!

I am a focal owner so biased. You might be interested in the stereophile review of the Scalas powered by BAT electronics from Axpona!
