Default Tannoy Canterbury SE

Well I have decided to run a dual system.I had a chance to listen to Yorkminster speaker with a Prima Luna DiaLogue Two last week and enjoyed the sound very much. I purchased the Canterbury SE because of being able to adjust the bass, looks and reading about some folks using solid state amps with the Canterbury. They should be here in two weeks. The game plan is to try the Burmester 911MK3 and the 011 preamp. If that works sell the other 911MK3 since this speaker is 96% efficient. I'm thinking of buying a 300B intergrated amp to start out in order to keep things simple and for the intimacy.

I think I understand that the transformers as well as wiring play a major role since tubes can be rolled.
I've been reading about WAVAC MD-300B, Mastersound compact 300B, Mastersound B.P.S.E. 300B, Trafomatic Audio Experience Two and Audio Space Reference 3.1. I'm looking for opinions on folks that have listened to these units or something better. I like to know about reliability, workmanship ,customer service and if they were used with Tannoy speakers since I won't be able to listen to most of them.

Hi John,

Sounds like a plan. I bet the 911's will be killer on the Tannoys, especially the dual monos, don't be too quick to sell (unless you accept a payment plan, Ha!). Are you still keeping the Hansens? The 300B should be a nice sounding tube amp and I think you will like it very much. I love going back and forth between systems.

Hansen's are going either way. I'm ready for a change (2 year itch). I don't think I will run the 911's in mono with the Canterbury. I'm afraid the 15" driver will fly out of the box Ha!

John,

BIG congratulations. I wish I had the room for the bigger Tannoys. I can't wait to hear your impression and see the photos.

Whoo-hoo!

John...I have not heard any but wanted to suggest one additional amp to consider as it has gotten a lot of good feedback at audio shows and my dealer recently heard one paired up with the Verity Amadis and was blown away:

Nagra 300i (integrated version) or 300b (amp version). 20wpc of push-pull Class A. Here is the website: Nagra - High end Audio

Here's a pic from the Stereophile coverage of SSI 2011:

Here are some show blogs/reviews:

The Audio Beat - CES & THE Show 2010 - Best of Show - Nagra 300i and CDC integrated amp, Verity Audio Leonore speakers
Verity–Nagra | Stereophile.com

Here's a thread on it that Howie started a while back:
